Origin and first major challenges.
The University of Antioquia Foundation was born in 1995 with the aim of creating an organization capable of connecting the University, the business community, and society, promoting partnerships and projects focused on social, academic, and scientific development. Since its inception, we have established our Foundation as a strategic supporter of the growth and strengthening of the University of Antioquia, integrating initiatives such as PECET and taking on significant challenges with national impact, including support for the reconstruction of Armenia following the 1999 earthquake.
Expansion of services and institutional presence.
We strengthen our operational capacity and expand our institutional presence through the creation of the University Store and the management of strategic projects, bringing the University closer to the community. Through these initiatives, we consolidate our role as a partner in institutional development and the implementation of projects with significant social, academic, and cultural impact.
Innovation, health and entrepreneurship.
We promote key projects that contribute to the city’s development and the strengthening of the university ecosystem, including initiatives related to the Medellín Metro, entrepreneurship, and innovation. We support the creation and strengthening of the University’s Healthcare Provider Institution (IPS Universitaria in Spanish) and the integration of research groups and centers, promoting science, health, and well-being. Furthermore, we establish international partnerships in health and scientific cooperation, expanding the University’s reach and influence.
Strengthening strategic partnerships
We solidify our role as a reliable partner in managing large-scale projects and partnerships with public and private entities and international organizations. Through strategic agreements and by supporting research and public health initiatives, we expand our impact in areas such as science, innovation, health, and services for the city and the region.
Innovation, sustainability and social impact.
We foster innovation and social investment strategies aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship, research, infrastructure, and university welfare. Our work contributes to sustainable development and to the improvement of the quality of life for thousands of people, consolidating our leadership as a bridge between the University, the public sector, the private sector, and society. We also strengthen processes of technological transformation, governance, transparency, and organizational growth to address current and future challenges.
