The University of Antioquia Foundation and the University Welfare Department work together to strengthen the capabilities of groups and individuals at the University by developing programs that contribute to holistic education, quality of life, sense of community, and harmonize life goals with their activities at the institution, within a participatory and pluralistic context.

This initiative supports students with previously identified socioeconomic needs through the University’s Food Service and the student retention scholarship programs. This service is offered to undergraduate students in socioeconomic level 1, 2, and 3, helping to reduce dropout rates and enabling them to complete their academic projects.
In 2024, a total of 4,076 students benefited from the program, of whom 382 received financial aid and 2,982 received served lunches, distributed across the University’s various campuses and branch campuses. In addition, the “Choose Your Menu” platform was implemented on all campuses where the service is offered.
Skills for Artistic and Cultural Life
It powers up University cultural life through festivals, gatherings, artistic groups, and spaces for cultural exchange, integrating art and creativity as fundamental pillars of a fulfilling life and holistic education across the multi-campus system.

This initiative aims to consolidate existing offerings at various campuses and strengthen participation in cultural life, fostering diverse artistic and cultural practices within the university community.
- Cultivarse (‘To cultivate oneself’ in English)
Strengthens spaces for the professional development of students, professors, and staff, with the goal of creating spaces for learning, appreciation, and enjoyment of artistic works in music, performing arts, and visual arts, fostering the development of aesthetic tastes and values among the university community.
- Dance Festival
In collaboration between the University Welfare Department and the University of Antioquia Foundation, the dance festival is offered to the entire community—an event that not only promotes psychomotor development in an enjoyable way but also fosters integration, emotional well-being, and artistic expression.
- University Song Festival
This festival seeks to foster the musical talent of students, faculty, and staff through a gathering space centered on singing. It enables them to explore vocal creativity, strengthen musical skills, and offers an opportunity for personal expression.
- Art and Culture Workshops for Well-being.
A space designed for enjoyment, relaxation, and learning, offering a wide variety of creative workshops. This space seeks to inspire participants to discover their potential, interact with other members of the community, and enjoy enriching experiences that contribute to their personal and collective growth.
- Tejiendo Redes (‘Weaving Networks’ in English)
Supports and displays artistic initiatives developed by the university community in various areas, such as music, theater, dance, and other cultural expressions, providing a space for students, faculty, and staff to share their talents, foster creativity, and enrich cultural life within the university.

We support operational needs and welfare initiatives through temporary assignments, financial incentives, and gathering spaces, thereby strengthening the institutional response and care for disadvantaged populations.

We strengthen the University of Antioquia’s sports and recreational infrastructure, programs, and services on the Medellín campus by promoting participation, holistic well-being, and healthy lifestyles that contribute to the comprehensive education of the university community.
Wellbeing Promoters
We co-fund projects led by students, faculty, and administrative staff that promote the prevention and detection of gender-based violence, fostering care practices and the embracing of institutional protocols across the multi-campus system.

Integrates interns from various disciplines into the University Welfare System to expand psychosocial and preventive care capacity, thereby strengthening both the support provided to the student community and the comprehensive training and retention of the interns themselves.

Yo Género Equidad (wordplay in Spanish meaning ‘I generate-gender equity’)
Develops awareness-raising, training, and specialized support strategies to prevent and address gender-based violence, strengthening the autonomy of those affected and promoting a safe, inclusive, and violence-free university.
University Co-Responsible for Care
It promotes educational, preventive, and care-related initiatives focused on comprehensive mental, physical, and social health, fostering protective environments, support networks, and an institutional culture based on co-responsibility and self-care.

Consolidates and modernizes the University Welfare Department data infrastructure to ensure reliable, unified, and timely information, enabling better decision-making, case tracking, and measurement of institutional impact.
University Welfare Fund (FBU) moves forward - Technology and Financial Education
Optimizes the University Welfare Fund’s technological infrastructure and strengthens the School of Financial Habits and Skills, facilitating access to educational resources that promote more informed and sustainable financial decisions.
